Half time saw West Brom lead by one goal but both teams looked promising to score more.

Foxes started quickly in the second half as Nicholls catches the keeper off her line but her shot just glides over the crossbar. Steele continued to impress after scoring directly from a corner on Sunday. This time it was the second ball back in from a corner which is launched deep into the box. She had the crowd going as it hit the outside of the net.

West Brom built into the second half with a great tackle from Taft in the box stopping a pacey West Brom counter. The baggies continued to press for a second only to have the assistant referee raise his flag.

There was much confusion as Mayfield came off her line and took down the West Brom forward. The referee blew her whistle but West Brom immediately put the ball in the back of the net. Initially looking like she was going to award the goal anyway the referee then awarded the penalty to West Brom and booked Mayfield. Dugmore scored the penalty for the Baggie doubling their lead.
West Brom continued to challenge Foxes releasing their quick strikers but the assistant referee raised his flag again much to the West Brom’s bench dismay. Lowe came on for her third substitute appearance this season to replace captain Young.

Foxes continued to battle hard in defence with Webb requiring treatment after she made a strong clearance. Nicholls again tried her effort from range but was unable to shake the defender off to get enough power on the shot. Mayfield again was called into action as she saved a quick turn and volley from the West Brom striker.

Cooper was replaced by Matlock with 15 minutes remaining. A special birthday present for Matlock who was making her first appearance for Foxes this season. West Brom pressed for a third goal with many attempted from range. Ritchie came on to replace Knight for the last 10 minutes.

In the dying minutes of the game, Foxes had a shout for a penalty but the referee had turned her back as the ball hit the defenders arm. West Brom capitalised on this and launched an attack on the foxes goal with the cross slipping past the defence and the player at the back post putting it in the net.

The final whistle saw the game close with West Brom winning 3-0 and putting themselves at the top of the FAWNL table. A difficult defeat for Foxes who performed well in spells but couldn’t get the goals they needed. The team now builds to an away fixture against Sheffield FC at the weekend. The side are yet to register a point in the league having faced tough opposition in their opening fixtures.
